The Peer Writing Center is part of the Sweetland Center for Writing and is housed in 2160 Shapiro Library as well as several satellite locations: the Trotter Center, Alice Lloyd Hall, and the Duderstadt Center.
Sweetland-trained peer writing consultants offer traditional face-to-face tutoring as well as online tutoring via the OWL (Online Writing Lab). Writing consultants operate according to the Peer Writing Program Mission Statement. Writers of all skill levels can talk with our consultants about papers from across the disciplines. We are not an editing service, but we are eager to talk with writers who bring in academic essays, cover letters, resumes, application essays, multimodal compositions, creative pieces, or questions they have, be they about global concerns like style or local ones like mechanics. Writers can visit us at any stage of the writing process: We can help you brainstorm if you have nothing written, we can help you develop ideas in your drafts, or we can help you develop strategies for polishing your own prose. Come visit us at the Sweetland Peer Writing Center today!
